Ministry cracks down on illegal structures along Beşiktaş coast

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has taken action on 21 registered and 2 unregistered immovable properties along the coastline after discrepancies were detected in investigations, according to a statement from the Ministry.

Experts from the Ministry made significant findings regarding structures on the coastline during audits, and legal proceedings were initiated after decisions were made by the Protection Regional Board.

Following the audits, it was discovered that illegal additions had been made towards the sea, closures in terrace parts, changes in the plan and front typology, as well as unique architectural elements that were causing deterioration. As a result, criminal complaints were filed against the owners of these properties for unauthorized applications. The Ministry decided to abolish these unauthorized structures and notified the owners and municipalities involved.

Furthermore, 7 registered and 2 unregistered immovables that had previously been the subject of criminal complaints for unauthorized applications were once again found to be in violation. They were required to rectify these unauthorized applications.

Inspections by the Ministry began on January 10, 2025, and are ongoing to ensure compliance with regulations.
