Bishkek – 11:52, 12 July 2024
A sharp change in climate and heavy, prolonged rains have led to mudflows in Batken region, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan.
Specialists from the Department of Emergency Monitoring and Forecasting are currently conducting research in the affected area to assess the situation caused by the natural disaster.
Residential houses in Airport and Orukzar sections of Ak-Tatyr village have been flooded, attributed to the close proximity of houses, planting of trees on the banks of drainage canals, and ongoing construction works.
In response to this situation, engineering and technical works are underway to widen the banks of the drainage canals and remove trees that are hindering the flow of water.
