Ministry of Energy Reports Embezzlement of 5.5 Billion Soums in April Electricity Usage

Electricity worth 5.5 billion soums, which is equivalent to the monthly consumption of 54,000 households, has been illegally used by various entrepreneurs and organizations. According to the Ministry of Energy, 10.9 million kWh of electricity was misappropriated in 225 cases in April. The monitoring activities, conducted in cooperation with Uzenergoinspektsiya and law enforcement agencies, revealed the misuse of electricity.

The highest number of illegal cases was recorded in Andijan, Syrdarya, Surkhandarya, and Tashkent regions. In Andijan, a cement production enterprise owned by an individual entrepreneur had to pay 522 million soums for recalculation works. Similarly, “Suv Ta’minot” LLC in Syrdarya region had to pay 340 million soums, and an individual entrepreneur in Tashkent region had to pay 163 million soums for the same.

The Ministry of Energy has taken appropriate measures against those violating consumers and has submitted relevant documents to law enforcement agencies. Due to the illegal use of electricity, the system has suffered significant damage. The ministry urges consumers to use electricity legally and to help prevent the misuse of electricity in Uzbekistan.
