Ministry of Interior Develops New ‘Risk’ System to Combat Criminal Machines

The Ministry of Interior is implementing a new system that will issue a “First -Degree Risky” warning to individuals with multiple criminal records, who will then appear before the court. This initiative comes after the case of 26-year-old Yunus Emre Geçi, who had 26 criminal records and tragically killed police officer Şeyda Yılmaz last year.

The new system will assess the risk analysis of crimes committed by individuals with a history of criminal activity and provide intelligence information to the court when requested. Professor of Police Academy, Dr. Coşkun Taştan, likened this intelligence information to a warehouse of data that can be accessed by the court when dealing with suspicious persons.

This measure is aimed at improving the judicial system’s ability to assess and manage the risk posed by individuals with a significant criminal record. By providing courts with additional information and intelligence on potential risks, authorities hope to prevent tragedies like the one involving Yunus Emre Geçi from occurring in the future.
