Ministry of National Defense Signals Cross-Border Operation Will Continue Until Organization Surrenders Weapons
A press briefing was held at the Ministry of National Defense, where significant developments regarding the operations of the Turkish Armed Forces were announced. It was stated that the operations carried out were part of a strategy to destroy terrorism at its source, resulting in the neutralization of 94 terrorists in the past week, including in northern Iraq and Syria. This brings the total number of terrorists neutralized since 2024 to 3,164.
During the briefing, Ministry of Defense Press and Public Relations Advisor Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk highlighted the ongoing efforts for peace and stability in Syria. He expressed support for the new process in Syria and emphasized Turkey’s commitment to standing by the Syrian people to establish permanent security and stability in the region.
Aktürk also condemned the PKK/YPG/SDF’s use of civilians as human shields in the Tishrin Dam region, calling it a violation of human rights. It was reiterated that the Turkish Armed Forces will continue cross-border operations while respecting Syria’s territorial integrity, unless the terrorist groups lay down their weapons.
In conclusion, the Ministry of National Defense reaffirmed its determination to combat terrorism and maintain regional security, promising to strengthen Syria’s defense and security capacity while preventing the presence of any terrorist formations in the region.
