Ministry Takes Action on Fire Tube Prices Following Hotel Fire in Bolu Kartalkaya – Latest News

Turkey is in mourning after a disastrous fire in Bolu Kartalkaya, which resulted in the loss of 78 lives. However, in the midst of this tragedy, opportunists have taken advantage of the situation by increasing the prices of fire tubes and other fire extinguishing materials by 100 percent.
The Ministry of Commerce has responded swiftly to complaints and allegations of price gouging, attracting widespread criticism for the exorbitant price increases. Ministry of Commerce Press Counselor Fatih Uysan stated in a press release that businesses found guilty of implementing excessive prices for fire materials will face severe penalties.
According to Uysan, inspection teams from the Ministry of Commerce are actively conducting checks on fire materials and taking action against businesses engaging in criminal practices such as price manipulation.
Prior to the fire, a mini fire tube that cost 414 TL was now priced at 735 TL, while fire blankets, fire extinguishing sprays, and smoke detectors also saw a 100 percent increase in prices.
The public is outraged by these unjust price hikes during a time of national tragedy. Authorities are urging businesses to act responsibly and refrain from taking advantage of such unfortunate circumstances.
