Ministry to Conduct Diving Operation at Cargo Shipwreck in Sea of Marmara – Latest News from Turkey

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure recently made a statement regarding the latest situation assessment of the ship sinking in the Sea of Marmara.
According to the Ministry, the emergency signal of the Batuhan A ship was received from the satellite-assisted search and rescue system (COSPAT-SARSAT) to the Main Search and Rescue Coordination Center. All sea and air search and rescue elements were immediately notified, and announcements began to be made to the ships in the region via Turkish Radio.
Despite attempts to contact the ship and its personnel, no response was received. It was confirmed that the ship, located fifty-one meters below the sea surface, was the Batuhan A ship during a night survey conducted with the ROV device by the General Directorate of Coastal Safety.
Diving activities to the shipwreck will commence, and search and rescue activities at sea and on the beach will continue without interruption.
Meanwhile, relatives of the crew have gathered at the crisis center established in Karacabey district, hoping for news about their loved ones. Despite ongoing search and rescue efforts by various teams, including AFAD, NAK, ANDA, gendarmerie, police diver, and AKUT, the fate of the crew remains unknown.
As the search continues in the bays extending from Bursa to Bandırma, family members are anxiously waiting for any updates at the crisis center.
