Ministry to Host Events for Disabled People’s Week – BRTK
The Ministry of Labor and Social Security is gearing up to host awareness and socialization events in honor of Disability Week, taking place from May 10-16. The theme for this year’s events is “We Overcome Obstacles Together.”
According to an announcement by the Ministry, various activities will be organized with the participation of young individuals from Güneşköy, Girne, and İrfan Nadir Disabled Rehabilitation Centers for People over the age of 18, which are under the umbrella of the Social Services Department.
One of the highlights of the upcoming events is a sapling planting ceremony scheduled to take place tomorrow at 10:00 at the Barrier-Free Life House in Demirhan. The event, titled “I Have a Tree Too, We Are Rooted in Barrier-Free Life,” aims to promote environmental awareness and inclusivity.
In addition, an exhibition match with the theme “Sports Know No Barriers” will be held tomorrow afternoon at 17:00 at the Küçük Kaymaklı Martyr Hüseyin Ruso Stadium. This event will bring together young individuals from Rehabilitation Centers over the age of 18, as well as ministers, deputies, and representatives from the Ministry of Social Services.
Other activities planned for the week include a special “Mother’s Day” event at the Famagusta İrfan Nadir Rehabilitation Center on Friday, May 10; a gathering titled “Disabled People with Disabilities” at the Alsancak Heaven Restaurant on Monday, May 13 in collaboration with the Mare Monte Women’s Association; and a dance entertainment event for young individuals with special needs at the Cheetah Club on Tuesday, May 14, dubbed “We Transcend, We Share Life.”
These events aim to raise awareness about the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and promote a more inclusive and supportive society. It is an opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate the abilities and strengths of all individuals, regardless of any obstacles they may face.
