Bishkek – 09:20, 21 December 2024 – In recognition of her work promoting Hungarian culture and art in Kyrgyzstan, public figure Mira Dzhangaracheva has been awarded the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic. This prestigious award is the first of its kind to be given to a Kyrgyz woman and is only bestowed upon foreigners for their exceptional civil service to the country.

The Hungarian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Sandor Dorogi, attended the award ceremony to present the honor to Mira Dzhangaracheva. The Ambassador praised her efforts in furthering Hungarian-Kyrgyz relations, particularly in the realm of culture, and expressed gratitude for her close collaboration with renowned Hungarian film director, Marta Meszaros.

Mira Dzhangaracheva has been actively engaged with Hungary since the 1990s, supporting the family of Hungarian emigrant and prominent sculptor and architect, Laszlo Meszaros. She assisted in uncovering archives and producing a documentary about his time in Kyrgyzstan, highlighting his contributions to the country’s professional art scene.

Well-known in Kyrgyzstan for her political and public work, Mira Dzhangaracheva has held significant roles such as Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Labor and Social Protection, and Member of Parliament. Following her political career, she contributed to the UN system until 2015.

Mira Dzhangaracheva’s dedication to bridging Hungarian and Kyrgyz cultures through art and collaboration has earned her international recognition and respect, solidifying her place as a cultural ambassador between the two nations.
