“MIT Takes Down DAESH Leader”
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke to journalists in a joint broadcast across multiple Turkish channels, answering questions about a range of topics. He started the address by assuring everyone of his good health, and notes that he has been keeping up his campaign across the country. Erdogan highlighted the fact that 3.3 million foreign voters would be able to cast their ballots at one of the 4,469 special polling stations that would be established abroad. He mentioned that the first question he was asked by overseas citizens was, “When will we have the right to vote?” Erdogan’s government has worked to ensure their voting rights, he said.
The president said that in the last 21 years Turkey has become a hub for technological advancements and has improved living standards for its citizens. Erdogan said that the opposition does not understand the actual situation of the Turkish people nor do they claim to have done anything meaningful. He said that his government has taken concrete steps to strengthen the country, and he invited Turkish citizens abroad to use their power to vote.
Erdogan also addressed the recent earthquake in Azerbaijan, and said that his government would work to build 1,000 permanent homes for those displaced by the disaster. He thanked the Red Crescent and AFAD for their efforts in providing relief, saying that it would go a long way in healing the wounds of the earthquake.
The opposition was another topic of discussion, and Erdogan accused them of telling lies about their achievements in Ankara and Istanbul. He countered by pointing out his government’s many accomplishments, including the construction of the Golden Horn Congress Center, the building of the Adnan Menderes airport, and the reduction of the travel time between Istanbul and Izmir.
Erdogan also addressed the issue of racist and Islamophobic attacks in Europe. Lastly, he praised the MIT’s success in neutralizing terrorist leader Abu Hussein al-Qurayshi in Syria, and said that Turkey would continue to work to improve the lives of its young people.
