Mongolia Funds Science Projects with MNT 744.8 Billion
Mongolia to Invest in Educational and Science Projects in 2024
The Ministry of Education and Science of Mongolia has announced plans to finance 442 educational and science projects, with a total budget of MNT 744.8 billion, in the year 2024. This investment is part of the overall budget allocated to the education sector, which is MNT 4.2 trillion, representing 5 percent of the gross domestic product.
One of the main goals for 2024 is to expand education facilities, with plans to build 142 schools, 149 kindergartens, and 40 dormitories. A total of MNT 330.5 billion will be allocated for this purpose in order to improve the infrastructure for education across the country.
In addition, the Ministry will provide MNT 14.5 billion for teacher education scholarships, and MNT 6.9 billion to cover tuition fees for the children of teachers and employees with at least 15 years of service who are studying in leading professions.
Furthermore, rural teachers will receive a six-month bonus for every five years of service, totaling MNT 105.3 billion. This bonus will be awarded every three years in the future, as a way to recognize and reward the dedication of teachers in rural areas.
Another important allocation is MNT 196.8 billion, which will be used to finance the variable costs of vocational institutions. Additionally, the “Lunch” program will be implemented for secondary school students, with an allocation of MNT 87.4 billion to provide meals for students.
