A Newborn Baby Found Abandoned in Istanbul
A shocking incident took place on Kıbrıs Street in Reşitpaşa District, Istanbul, on January 25 at around 20.30. A concerned citizen, who was about to dispose of his garbage, discovered a newborn baby among the trash bags on the ground.
Medical teams were immediately notified and arrived at the scene. The baby was swiftly transported to Seyrantepe Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital for urgent treatment.
Following diligent work by the police, it was determined that the individual responsible for abandoning the baby next to the garbage bags was Karolin Y. It was revealed that Karolin Y., who was subsequently apprehended, had become pregnant from her ex-husband and callously left the newborn in the trash after giving birth.
After the necessary procedures at the police station, Karolin Y. was transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan. She provided a statement to the prosecutor’s office before being taken into custody by the criminal judgeship of peace on duty.
This distressing incident has shocked the local community and raised serious questions about the welfare of vulnerable infants. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
