Motorcycle Penalties to Increase: 47 Thousand TL Fine for Racing and Stunts, Reports Breaking News Turkey

New Regulations Introduced to Prevent Motorcycle Accidents

In response to the rising number of motorcycles on the road, new regulations have been introduced to help prevent accidents. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced an action plan aimed at increasing safety for motorcyclists.

One of the key changes in the draft law is the significant increase in penalties for not wearing a helmet. The penalty for this offense will now be raised from 993 pounds to 9 thousand pounds after the first violation, which previously stood at 1500 pounds.

Furthermore, the draft law includes new rules that were not previously enforced for motorcyclists. One such rule is the penalty for making acrobatic movements while driving, which will now result in a hefty fine of 47 thousand pounds, a 60-day driver’s license suspension, and a ban from traffic for 60 days.

Minister Yerlikaya emphasized the severity of the penalties for driving without a license, stating that the penalty for using a vehicle without a license is 18 thousand 677 pounds. Additionally, if a driver’s license is temporarily revoked or canceled, the penalty for driving a vehicle will be a staggering 186 thousand pounds.

The draft law also includes provisions for penalties related to failing to comply with stop warnings, driving through red lights, and engaging in races or acrobatic movements in traffic. These violations will result in fines ranging from 47 thousand pounds to 80 thousand pounds, with the possibility of driver’s license cancellation for repeat offenders.

Overall, the new regulations aim to improve road safety for motorcyclists and reduce the number of accidents caused by reckless driving behaviors. By implementing stricter penalties and enforcement measures, the government hopes to encourage responsible driving and reduce the risk of accidents on the roads.
