Istanbul Police Crack Down on Reckless Motorcyclists
The Istanbul Police Department Traffic Inspection Branch recently took swift action to address a group of motorcycle riders who were posing a threat to public safety on the Cebeci Tunnel Connection Road. The teams identified that the group was endangering traffic safety by riding in the wrong direction and performing dangerous acrobatic maneuvers.
In total, 14 motorcycle drivers were apprehended for their reckless behavior, along with 10 individuals on the side of the road, including 5 minors. The offenders were charged with a range of violations, such as driving in the wrong direction, excessive exhaust emissions, failure to comply with warnings, and driving without insurance or a valid license. As a result, fines totaling 251,249 lira were imposed on the violators.
Furthermore, six individuals had their driver’s licenses revoked, and 14 motorcycles involved in the incident were banned from future use on the roads. Legal proceedings were also initiated against the suspects under the charge of endangering traffic safety.
The Istanbul Police Department’s proactive efforts serve as a strong deterrent against dangerous driving behavior and reinforce the importance of adhering to traffic laws to ensure the safety of all road users.
