
Mubashshir Ahmad arrested in Turkey

Alisher Tursunov aka Mubashshir Ahmad, the founder of the Azon Global information analysis portal, has been detained in Turkey for 12 days. According to a source, the Turkish police took him away on suspicion of a threat to public safety.
The founder of the Azon Global information analysis portal, Alisher Tursunov, also known as Mubashshir Ahmad, was taken into custody by Turkish authorities on December 28, 2023. Azon Global made the announcement today, stating that the information about his detention was not officially disclosed to the public in the belief that it was a misunderstanding.
In Turkey, a suspect cannot be detained for more than 3 days without proven charges. If the accusation is proven, it should be transferred to the Justice Department, and if not, the suspect should be released or deported. However, despite the preliminary investigations proving the accusations against Mubashshir Ahmad were unfounded, he remains in detention without any clear explanation.
Sources have revealed that Mubashshir Ahmad was taken on suspicion of a threat to public safety. Uzbek diplomats in Turkey have visited the detention center where he is being held and have provided consular and legal assistance.
The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul has confirmed that Alisher Tursunov, also known as Mubashshir Ahmad, has been detained by the Turkish police and is currently in the Binkilich deportation center in Istanbul. The consulate is providing the necessary assistance to him.
Mubashshir Ahmad announced in August 2023 that the website Azon.uz, based in Uzbekistan, had stopped its activities. He later launched the Azon Global portal in November, which operates in Uzbek, Russian, English, and Turkish languages.
The reasons for his detention remain unclear, and his colleagues and legal team are working to secure his release.
