Multi-province Operation Cage-41 Targets Istanbul and Izmir

Operation “Cage-41” captures 61 suspects in 9 provinces including Istanbul and Izmir

Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya took to social media to announce that 61 suspects were captured in Operation “Cage-41”. The operation, which was carried out under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security’s Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Presidency, targeted individuals involved in forming criminal organizations and supplying weapons to other criminal groups.

According to Yerlikaya, the suspects were involved in serious crimes including multiple murders, intentional wounding, armed conflicts, deprivation of liberty, threats, armed attacks, unlicensed possession of weapons, looting, and intimidation. During the operations, 37 unlicensed pistols, 5 hunting rifles, numerous bullets, and 3 steel vests were seized from the suspects.

The operation specifically targeted two organized crime groups, one in Izmir and the other in Istanbul, with identified leaders who are also wanted internationally.

The successful operation demonstrates the commitment of the Turkish authorities to combat organized crime and ensure the safety and security of the citizens.
