Mustafa Kemal’s Soldiers: Lieutenants Defend Sword Oath Investigation

Lieutenants Defend Themselves at High Disciplinary Board
After facing the possibility of dismissal from the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), five lieutenants recently defended themselves before the High Disciplinary Board. During the hearing, each lieutenant expressed their loyalty to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey.
One lieutenant, Ebru Eroğlu, boldly stated, “You can take the rank on my shoulder, but you cannot take the Military Academy badge on my chest.” These words reflect the deep sense of pride and dedication that these lieutenants have for their military service.
In addition to the lieutenants, their deputy regiment commander, battalion commander, and company commander also made their defense at the hearing. The verdict on the eight personnel, including the five lieutenants, will be submitted to the Ministry of National Defense and the Land Forces Command for approval within the next 10 days.
According to the President of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations, Erinç Sağkan, the lieutenants emphasized the importance of Atatürk’s legacy within the Turkish Armed Forces. They stood up and said, “It is within us,” highlighting the inseparable connection between the military institution and the principles laid down by Atatürk.
As the decision from the High Disciplinary Board is being finalized, it is important to recognize the unwavering dedication and loyalty that these lieutenants have shown towards their country and its founding principles. The outcome of this case will not only impact the individuals involved but also carry broader implications for the future of the Turkish Armed Forces.
