Namangan to increase water and sewer service tariffs

Namangan region to increase water and sewer tariffs
The Namangan region in Uzbekistan is set to see an increase in tariffs for cold water and sewer services. Residential users will now pay 3,500 UZS per cubic meter of water, while businesses will see a rise in tariffs to 7,000 UZS.
The decision to raise the tariff rates was reported by the press service of the regional administration. Governor Shavkatjon Abdurazzakov discussed the new water and sewer tariffs with representatives of “Namangan Water Supply” on January 30. During the meeting, sector specialists proposed setting the price for one cubic meter of water for the population at 4,000 UZS. However, the governor instructed to lower the tariff amount in order to reduce planned losses in the water supply system.
The new tariffs for water and sewer services have been reviewed and approved by the deputies of the Regional Council of People’s Deputies. The tariffs for cold water and sewer services per cubic meter have been set for residential users at 3,500 UZS and 800 UZS respectively. For budgetary and other organizations, the tariffs will be 7,000 UZS and 975 UZS per cubic meter for cold water and sewer services, respectively.
It has also been announced that according to a presidential decree, as of January 1, 2024, prices for cold water and sewer services will be determined based on the cost of the services.
The increase in tariffs for cold water and sewer services is not limited to the Namangan region. “Uzsuvtaminot” has recently announced an increase in tariffs in several other regions and the city of Tashkent as well. The justification for the tariff increase has been attributed to covering employee salaries, tax payments, electricity costs, loan repayments, and funds required for the repair and modernization of the system.
These tariff increases will have implications for both residential users and businesses in the region. It remains to be seen how these changes will impact the daily lives and operations of the affected parties.
