The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan has announced that it will be transferring 100 percent of its profits for the year 2024 to the republican budget. This decision comes after a bill was submitted to the Parliament for consideration.
Mels Attokurov, the Deputy Chairman of the National Bank, revealed that in 2023, the bank transferred 12,436 billion soms to the budget based on its activities for that year. The exact amount earned in 2024 is still unknown, as the audit is set to be completed in the first ten days of February.
During the discussion, Deputy Dastan Bekeshev inquired about approximate data, to which Mels Attokurov mentioned that the National Bank is expected to transfer between 15 to 20 billion soms. He explained that this money was earned from the purchase and sale of gold and foreign currency.
Furthermore, Bekeshev asked about the 7 billion soms received by the National Bank from the sale of Keremet Bank to the Cabinet of Ministers, and whether this amount is included in the bank’s profit. Attokurov confirmed that indeed, the 7 billion soms from the sale were part of the bank’s profit.
Overall, the decision to transfer all profits to the republican budget showcases the National Bank’s commitment to supporting the country’s financial stability and economic development.
