National Electric Train’s Third Set Successfully On Track

The third set of trains manufactured and tested by TÜRASAŞ has successfully hit the rails, marking a significant milestone in Turkey’s rail transportation system. This set, which was delivered to the TCDD General Directorate of Transportation after completion, is part of the National Train project that aims to enhance the country’s rail infrastructure.

TÜRASAŞ, the manufacturer behind this achievement, produced the National Train, which officially started passenger services on May 27, 2023. The train, equipped with the Train Control Management System (TKYS) and Traction Chain System, has already covered 170 thousand kilometers, made 1735 trips, and carried 390 thousand passengers.

According to ASELSAN’s bulletin “National Train National Pride,” plans are underway to have 19 more sets operational by the end of 2025, bringing the total number of local and national train sets to 22 within two years. By 2030, a total of 56 sets are set to be in service to cater to the transportation needs of citizens across the country.

ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure for supporting the development of national subsystems in the rail sector. He emphasized ASELSAN’s commitment to providing high-tech solutions for the country’s electric trains and reinforcing its presence on the railway network.

The technical specifications of the National Train include a maximum speed of 160 km/h, aluminum vehicle body, 1435mm rail clearance, and a host of other advanced features for passenger comfort and safety.

This latest advancement in Turkey’s railway industry is a testament to the country’s ongoing efforts to modernize its transportation infrastructure and provide efficient, reliable, and sustainable train services for its citizens.
