National Food Truck Festival Marks Milestone 100th Show
The Food Truck Show, initially thought to be just a passing fashion trend, has not only survived but thrived, even managing to navigate through the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. As the event gears up to celebrate its 100th edition, every mobile restaurant in the country will gather on Vámház Boulevard on September 21-22 for a grand celebration.
According to reports from Turizmus.com, the event will feature all the beloved food trucks from the past decade, winners of professional awards, and renowned establishments showcasing their signature dishes, both old and new. Additionally, workshops scheduled for Saturday and Sunday will delve into the evolution of street food over the years, highlighting transformations like the shift from traditional hamburgers to smashed burgers, the rising popularity of Asian flavors in Hungary, and the enduring appeal of churros.
Zoltán Horváth, the founder and owner of the Food Truck Show, expressed pride in bringing a unique gastronomic experience to the streets, emphasizing the genre’s growing importance in the catering industry and its integral role in various festivals and events.
The festival will take place between Kálvin Square and the Pest end of the Liberty Bridge, offering a wide array of street food options in a child- and dog-friendly environment on car-free days. With the Food Truck Show becoming a staple in the country’s culinary scene, the event continues to attract food enthusiasts and industry professionals alike.
As the popularity of food truck operations rises in Hungary, an increasing number of chefs from traditional restaurants are venturing into the world of mobile catering, further diversifying the culinary landscape. From 15 trucks in 2014 to over 150 in 2023, the event has witnessed exponential growth, offering guests a mix of familiar favorites and exciting new flavors every year.
