
National Hospital Department Head Arrested in Bishkek

Bishkek – The head of the Maxillofacial Surgery Department of the National Hospital and one of his subordinates have been detained in Bishkek for alleged involvement in financial crimes. According to the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic (SCNS), the two individuals were arrested as part of a criminal investigation into the systematic receipt of funds and money laundering.
The SCNS press center reported that the head of the department and the doctor have been found to have amassed property worth approximately $2 million, a sum that far exceeds their reported salaries. The doctor was said to have received an annual salary of around 400,000 soms, raising suspicions about the source of the additional wealth.
As a result of these findings, both individuals have been placed in pre-trial detention as a preventive measure. The investigation into their alleged financial misconduct is ongoing.
