The president of the National University of Mongolia, D.Badarch, highlighted the importance of incorporating Gender Studies into the curriculum, stating, “This is a crucial step towards nurturing a more inclusive society. We believe that this partnership will not only benefit our students but will also have a positive and lasting impact on Mongolia’s development.”

The secretariat and chief of the National Committee on Gender Equality, T.Enkhbayar, expressed Mongolia’s growing commitment to gender equality. He emphasized that the launch of the Gender Studies program is a significant development that reflects the nation’s determination to promote women’s rights, challenge gender stereotypes, and create a more equitable society for all.

The Gender Studies program is set to commence in the spring semester of 2023-2024. It expects to attract a diverse range of students who will be able to engage in courses from both an academic and practical perspective. To further support the program, The Asia Foundation will provide tuition fee scholarships for 20 students and contribute to the program’s initial research focusing on the care economy.

This collaboration between The Asia Foundation, the Lotus Circle funds, and the National University of Mongolia marks a milestone in Mongolia’s efforts to advance gender equality and empower women.
