Neighbor’s Door Set on Fire with Thinner in Antalya Incident

A shocking incident occurred in Antalya yesterday when a man poured thinner on his neighbor’s door and set it on fire. The event took place at around 22.30 on the top floor of a 5-storey apartment building in Varlık Mahallesi in the Muratpaşa district.
The perpetrator, identified as Serhan K., allegedly threatened his upstairs neighbor, Tezcan K., in the past by saying he would throw a Molotov cocktail at his house. Subsequently, Serhan K. poured paint thinner on Tezcan K.’s door and set it ablaze. Tezcan K.’s mother, Gülperi K., who is a kidney patient, was at home at the time and managed to call for help from neighbors after noticing the smoke. Thankfully, the neighbors intervened and extinguished the fire themselves.
Authorities were notified, and the police, fire brigade, and medical team were dispatched to the scene. Serhan K. was rescued by the police after attempting to escape back to his apartment. He was then taken to the police station for questioning.
Tezcan K. expressed concerns about the safety of his home, stating, “He poured paint thinner in a can and set the place on fire. There is also a natural gas pipe here. If the pipe had burned, the whole thing would have burned.” He emphasized the need for the perpetrator to receive treatment, as he has exhibited dangerous behavior in the past.
The incident has left the residents of the apartment building shaken, with fears of potential future attacks. Authorities are investigating the case, and measures are being taken to ensure the safety of the neighborhood.
