Kyrgyzstan Signs Agreement with the Netherlands to Prevent Double Taxation
On December 7, 2023, an agreement was signed between Kyrgyzstan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands to eliminate double taxation in relation to income taxes and prevent tax evasion. The Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan reported that this agreement marks an important step in promoting economic cooperation between the two countries.
According to the Ministry, similar agreements have been signed by 35 countries to date, all with the main goal of eliminating double taxation of income for businesses operating in different states.
The Ministry also emphasized that agreements like these are vital for attracting foreign direct investment into the economy of the republic. They serve to protect a resident of one state from discriminatory taxation in another contracting state, prevent tax evasion or abuse of the provisions of agreements, and facilitate the mutual exchange of information between the competent authorities of the contracting countries.
This new agreement between Kyrgyzstan and the Netherlands is expected to further strengthen economic ties and promote greater investment and business opportunities between the two nations. It is a positive development for both countries and reflects their commitment to fostering a favorable environment for economic cooperation and growth.
