
NEU Campus Welcomes Dr. Suat Günsel Mosque

The Dr. Suat Günsel Mosque was officially opened for worship in a ceremony held today on the occasion of Regaip Kandili, the beginning of the holy three months. This new mosque, located in the Near East University Campus in Northern Cyprus, was inaugurated with the presence of several esteemed dignitaries.
Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, who was visiting the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, attended the opening ceremony of the mosque. During the ceremony, the first speech was delivered by NEU Board of Trustees Chairman Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel. Günsel highlighted that the mosque is a modern interpretation of Ottoman architecture and a symbol of the strong ties between Turkish Cypriots and Anatolia.
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel commended the efforts of the Turkish Cypriots in the construction of the mosque, emphasizing the unity and determination of the people in the region.
Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz expressed his happiness in opening the mosque on such an auspicious occasion, and also drew attention to the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Peace Operation in TRNC. He stressed the need for continued support for the Turkish Cypriots and the development of the TRNC in the future.
Finally, President Ersin Tatar spoke about the importance of religious worship in the region and the ongoing efforts to establish the sovereign equality of the Turkish Cypriot people. He thanked the Günsel family for their contributions to the construction of the mosque, and pointed out the significance of the mosque as a symbol of the just cause of the Turkish Cypriot People and their existence as an equal entity.
