New Appointments in Uzbekistan’s Judiciary

The Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan has recently undergone significant leadership changes, with the appointment of Dilmurod Kosimov as Deputy Prosecutor General and Azamat Mirzayev as the Prosecutor of Tashkent region.

Dilmurod Kosimov’s appointment was made through a presidential decree, marking his transition from the role of Business Ombudsman where he advocated for the rights and legal interests of entrepreneurs. Kosimov has a wealth of experience within the prosecution system, having previously served as the First Deputy Prosecutor of Samarkand region until 2017.

On the other hand, Azamat Mirzayev has taken on the position of Prosecutor of Tashkent region after a six-month vacancy. The duties were temporarily handled by First Deputy Prosecutor Abdukahhor Mullajonov before Mirzayev’s appointment. Prior to this role, Mirzayev served as the Prosecutor of Navoiy region since November 2023.

The Tashkent regional prosecutor’s post had been vacant since September 2024, following the transfer of former prosecutor Sirojiddin Eshkuvvatov to a leadership role in the Construction and Housing Utilities Inspection Agency. These leadership changes mark a new era for the Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan as it continues its mission to uphold justice and the rule of law.
