New Battery Storage Facility by Alternative Energy Company Opens in Western Hungary
ALTEO Boosts Hungary’s Grid-Scale Battery Capacity with New 8MW Facility
Listed alternative energy company ALTEO recently inaugurated an 8MW battery storage facility in Győr, located in northwestern Hungary. This new facility aims to mitigate the variability of weather-dependent renewables and will significantly increase Hungary’s overall grid-scale battery capacity by 20 percent, according to Gergely Suppan, a deputy state secretary at the National Economy Ministry. Suppan noted that ALTEO’s subsidiary, ALTEUS, is responsible for providing around 40 percent of the country’s battery capacity.
Attila Chikán Jr, chairman and CEO of ALTEUS, highlighted that the new facility will play a crucial role in balancing supply and demand in the grid. This latest addition joins ALTEO’s existing battery storage facilities in Budapest and Kazincbarcika, further solidifying the company’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
In addition to their efforts in expanding battery capacity, ALTEO reported revenue of HUF 96 billion last year, as shown by public records. This financial success reflects the company’s dedication to driving innovation and promoting clean energy alternatives in Hungary.
Furthermore, thousands of Russians have recently arrived in Hungary to work on the Paks II project, signaling a growing interest in collaborative efforts to enhance the country’s energy infrastructure.
