New Beginnings in the East: A Chance for a Fresh Start
President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, has shown compassion and mercy by signing a decree to pardon 321 convicted individuals in honor of the sacred Gadyr Gidzhesi- Night of Omnipotence. This decision was made with the intention of strengthening unity and cohesion within Turkmen society and families.
The announcement was made during a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, where the Secretary of the State Security Council, Begench Gundogdyev, presented a report on the work of the Commission responsible for proposing citizenship and pardon issues under the President’s guidance.
Upon receiving the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the decree as a noble gesture in anticipation of the upcoming sacred Night of Omnipotence. He instructed the Chairman of the Commission and law enforcement agencies to facilitate the release of the pardoned individuals from detention facilities and ensure their prompt reunion with their families.
The President expressed his desire for the pardoned individuals to serve the country conscientiously and enjoy the fruits of their labor. This act of clemency on the occasion of Gadyr Gijesi highlights Turkmenistan’s commitment to principles of humanity and mercy.
