Humane AI to launch Ai Pin as a smartphone alternative
A start-up company called Humane AI has recently unveiled an innovative new device called Ai Pin, which is being positioned as a potential replacement for traditional smartphones. The compact, square gadget with rounded edges can be attached to clothing or other surfaces using a magnet and operates through voice commands.
The dimensions of the Ai Pin are 47.50 x 44.50 x 8.25-14.98 mm, with a weight of 34.2 grams. When connected to the Battery booster, an additional 20 grams are added to the device. Powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, the Ai Pin also boasts 4GB RAM and 32GB of storage.
Equipped with a built-in 13-megapixel camera, the Ai Pin projects information directly onto the user’s palm or other surfaces in 720p resolution. It also supports LTE and 3G voice calls, Wi-Fi (802.11ac), Bluetooth 5.1, and GPS/GLONASS. In addition, the Ai Pin includes a microphone, depth and motion sensors, a speaker, and the ability to connect headphones via Bluetooth. It is designed to function independently without the need for a smartphone.
One of the most notable features of the Ai Pin is its use of large artificial intelligence models, including ChatGPT, and its integration with AI models via AI Mic software. The device’s operating system, called CosmOS, is designed to automatically direct user requests to the appropriate AI models instead of relying on a multitude of individual apps.
The Humane team expressed their pride in the development of Ai Pin, stating that it is the embodiment of their vision to seamlessly integrate artificial intelligence into everyday life without overshadowing humanity. The company has been working on the device for the past four years and sees it as just the beginning of their technological innovations.
