New high-paying profession announced by TURKSTAT

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) recently released data showing that employees in the finance and insurance sector in Turkey earned the highest annual average gross earnings in 2022. The highest earnings in this economic activity amounted to 293,511 TL. This high income was followed closely by the information and communication sector at 284,842 TL and culture, art, entertainment, recreation, and sports activities at 229,108 TL.

According to the Earnings Structure Statistics for 2022, the average monthly earnings per person were 12,450 TL. In November 2022, the total monthly paid hours worked was 201.3. Additionally, the study revealed that men worked an average of 206.3 monthly paid hours while women worked an average of 191.0.

The Earnings Structure Statistics also highlighted that the average hourly gross wage-salary in 2022 was 55.4 TL in total. Men received an average hourly gross wage-salary of 54.4 TL while women received an hourly average gross wage-salary of 57.4 TL.

Furthermore, the average monthly gross wage-salary per person was 11,143 TL in total. Men’s average monthly gross wage-salary was 11,233 TL while women’s was 10,961 TL.

By education level, it was observed that those with higher education earned the highest earnings, with an average annual gross income of 207,112 TL for men and 171,568 TL for women. On the other hand, qualified agricultural, forestry, and fisheries workers had the lowest average annual gross earnings at 94,849 TL.

Statistics also revealed that the gender wage or earnings gap was in favor of men at all education levels and in all professional groups. For instance, the wage or earning difference between genders is highest in craftsmen and related workers, while professionals exhibited the highest gender wage gap.

Overall, the new data provides valuable insights into the earnings landscape of different sectors in Turkey, affirming that the finance and insurance sector continues to provide high earning potential for employees.
