New Hydro Power Plant Opened in Talas Region of Kyrgyzstan
President Sadyr Japarov Inaugurates Bala-Saruu Hydroelectric Power Plant in Kyrgyzstan
In a significant development for the energy sector in Kyrgyzstan, President Sadyr Japarov officially opened the Bala-Saruu hydroelectric power plant (HPP) in the Talas region. The inauguration ceremony was attended by government officials and key stakeholders in the energy industry.
The Bala-Saruu HPP, located on the downstream of the Kirov reservoir, features three generators with a total capacity of 25 megawatts. It is expected to generate an average of 92 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, meeting the needs of approximately 19,000 consumers in two districts of the Talas region.
President Japarov emphasized the importance of the project in addressing the country’s electricity needs, particularly in remote areas where access to reliable power supply is limited. He highlighted the involvement of domestic companies in the construction of the HPP, underscoring the capacity and expertise of Kyrgyz power engineers, builders, and designers.
The president also announced plans for future projects on Orto-Tokoi and Papan reservoirs, signaling the government’s commitment to expanding renewable energy infrastructure in the country.
With a total investment of 2.8 billion soms, the Bala-Saruu HPP project includes the construction of the plant building, installation of equipment, two power transformers, and the construction of transmission lines to connect the plant to surrounding areas.
The successful completion of the Bala-Saruu HPP is a testament to Kyrgyzstan’s growing capabilities in the renewable energy sector and sets a positive precedent for future developments in the field. President Japarov expressed his pride in the achievements of local professionals and the potential for further advancements in the country’s energy infrastructure.
