The undergraduate student scholarships will be increased from 1,250 lira to 2,000 lira starting in 2024. Graduate students will receive 4,000 lira, up from 2,500 lira, while doctoral students will receive 6,000 lira, increased from 3,750 lira. President Erdogan emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting students’ educational pursuits.
Taking to his social media account, Erdogan shared the announcement, stating that the Ministry of Youth and Sports will distribute the determined amount to 1.6 million students who receive loans or scholarships. He expressed his hope that the new loan and scholarship amounts would be beneficial to all students.
President Erdogan also highlighted the country’s economic aspirations, stating that the path to becoming an influential nation is through a strong economy. He revealed plans to share the Medium Term Development Plan in September, which will focus on the 2053 vision and long-term goals for Turkey. Erdogan expressed his belief that Turkey has the potential to become one of the top five largest economies globally. He also emphasized the government’s dedication to fulfilling promises made to citizens, including recent initiatives providing mobile phones, computers, and internet access to university students.
In addition to increasing scholarship and loan amounts, the government has taken steps to ease the burden of loan repayments for students. Updates regarding loan repayments have been removed, ensuring that the principal amounts are repaid effectively. President Erdogan assured that students who meet the eligibility criteria will continue to benefit from scholarship and loan opportunities.
