Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Approves Extension of Travel Benefits for Istanbulkart Holders
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Assembly recently convened for its third session of the June meeting at the city hall in Saraçhane, under the leadership of Zeynel Abidin School, the 1st Deputy Chairman of the Assembly.
During the meeting, a proposal was put forth to grant Istanbulkart holders the right to travel up to 15 liras even when their card balance is insufficient. This proposal has been unanimously approved by the Assembly, marking a significant benefit for public transportation users in Istanbul.
The sale of immovable properties owned by IMM was also discussed during the assembly. Based on the reports from the commission, the Assembly approved the sale of properties located in Eyüpsultan, Kadıköy, Kağıthane, Pendik, Bahçelievler, Kartal, Pendik, and Zeytinburnu. This decision is expected to contribute to the municipality’s finances and development plans.
Furthermore, a decision was made to allocate the open car park in Beşiktaş to the Istanbul Central Command free of charge for a period of 5 years. Additionally, the free allocation of the Tarık Zafer Tunaya Cultural Center in Beyoğlu for 5 years will be extended to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. After this allocation period, the center will be used by the Galata Mevlevi Lodge Museum Directorate. These arrangements aim to support cultural institutions and strengthen collaboration between different governmental bodies.
The decisions made during the session reflect the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Assembly’s commitment to improving public transportation services and utilizing immovable properties effectively. These measures will greatly benefit Istanbul’s residents and contribute to the city’s overall development.
