“Gamishli” Small Hydroelectric Power Station Inaugurated in Kalbajar District

The recently reconstructed “Gamishli” Small Hydroelectric Power Station has been inaugurated in Kalbajar district, Azerbaijan. The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, attended the ceremony, where he launched the new station. The President of “Azerenergy” OJSC, Baba Rzayev, presented the work carried out on the station to the head of state.

The “Gamishli” Small Hydroelectric Power Station used to be in Kalbajar, but it was dismantled and destroyed by the Armenians who left the district. However, “Azerenergy” managed to fully reconstruct it and built a 6.3 MW main generator hall for the station. A 110 kW substation was also constructed, including two hydro turbine units and a SCADA control system was installed.

The “Gamishli” Small Hydroelectric Power Station has a 18.5 million kWh capacity, making it an important energy asset for Azerbaijan. The inauguration of the new station is seen as an important step forward in developing the country’s energy sector by promoting renewable energy sources.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed his satisfaction with the work carried out on the station and emphasized the importance of investing in renewable energy sources for the sustainable development of Azerbaijan.
