Parliament Approves Integration of Shirin Township into City of Samarkand
In a move to further develop the city of Samarkand, parliament has approved the integration of the area designated for the development of the Shirin township into the city. This ambitious project includes the construction of 254 multi-story residential buildings, 19 business centers, a 6-kilometer-long overground metro line, two large bridges, and numerous other facilities.
According to a resolution adopted by the Legislative Chamber, the boundaries of Samarkand city, along with Samarkand and Akdarya districts in the Samarkand region, will be redrawn. A total of 170 hectares of land from Samarkand district and 243 hectares from Akdarya district will be incorporated into the city of Samarkand.
As part of these changes, the “Shirin” modern business center will be established, featuring a range of amenities and facilities. The township will include 254 multi-story residential buildings, 19 business and commercial centers, 50 social sector facilities, 89 entertainment and shopping complexes, and a historical township.
Additionally, the township will have 112 kilometers of internal roads, pedestrian and bicycle paths, a 6-kilometer overground metro line, two large bridges, a 7.2-kilometer tunnel for internal communications, 180 kilometers of irrigation pipelines, a 14-kilometer canal, and various irrigation structures.
In July 2023, a presidential decree was issued for the construction of the modern Shirin business center and residential complex in Samarkand city. The township development is scheduled to take place from 2023 to 2030, with state banks providing a loan equivalent to $100 million for the project.
With these developments, the city of Samarkand is poised for growth and expansion, bringing new opportunities and infrastructure to the region.
