Newborn Gang Member Threatens Prosecutor, Claims Innocence

The investigation carried out by the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against the 18 suspects caught in the second wave operation against the Yenidoğan Gang has been completed. A report was prepared, including the statement of Mustafa Kemal Zengin, who threatened public prosecutor Yavuz Engin in his office.
In the prepared report, Zengin apologized to the Turkish nation and state for the misunderstanding caused by his actions. He claimed that he did not intend to threaten the prosecutor but was merely sharing his predictions with him.
Meanwhile, the Istanbul Police Department’s Financial Crimes Fighting Branch Directorate teams identified 5 doctors and 5 healthcare workers involved with the gang leader Fırat Sarı in their operation on December 4. Three nurses and one person were detained. A report was prepared for the 18 suspects, with a prison sentence of 20 to 25 years requested for Doctor Dursun Eryılmaz for the crime of ‘intentional murder through negligence’.
Additionally, Mustafa Kemal Zengin faces a prison sentence of 2 to 4 years for ‘aiding an organization established to commit a crime’ due to the threat made to Public Prosecutor Yavuz Engin. The investigation on this matter is ongoing. Various prison sentences were requested for the remaining 16 suspects for their involvement in different crimes.
Zengin’s statement in the report emphasized his apology to the nation and state, denying any serious intent to harm the public prosecutor. When questioned about his knowledge of the prosecutor, Zengin claimed he only knew what Yavuz Çelik had told him and that the situation escalated due to his exaggeration. He concluded by stating he had nothing more to add to the matter.
