Night Eagles: Guardians of the Abandoned Streets
Night Eagles, also known as the neighborhood guards in Edirne, are making a significant impact on the security and peace of the city’s streets. These dedicated guards fearlessly patrol deserted areas, regardless of the weather conditions, to ensure the safety of neighborhoods and streets.
Under the leadership of Provincial Police Chief Onur Karaburun, over 100 guards are strategically deployed based on a risk map they have prepared. Their proactive approach has led to a significant decrease in the number of wanted criminals in the area. Director Karaburun emphasized the crucial role these guards play in crime prevention and maintaining public safety.
Thanks to the diligent work of the Night Eagles, there has been a 42% decrease in property crimes, a 60% decrease in home theft, and a 60% decrease in workplace theft. Their presence also allows for quick interventions in incidents and the collection of evidence, leading to a higher success rate in solving crimes.
Karaburun highlighted the commitment of every police officer in the Edirne Provincial Police Department, who work around the clock to keep the city safe. The plan is to increase the number of guards and expand their patrols throughout the city to further enhance the security measures. The public can expect to hear the guard whistle more frequently as Edirne continues to progress towards being a more peaceful and secure environment.
