Nikol Pashinyan’s Absence Mars CIS Heads of Government Summit in Bishkek
Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, did not attend the recent summit of CIS Heads of Government. According to Armenian media, on October 26, Pashinyan traveled to Georgia for a one-day working visit to participate in the International Silk Road Conference in Tbilisi. During his visit, a meeting between Pashinyan and the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, was also scheduled.
This is not the first time Pashinyan has been absent from a CIS Heads summit. He also did not attend the summit held in Bishkek on October 10.
Meanwhile, Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, is currently hosting meetings of the Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council. Eleven high-ranking guests have arrived in Bishkek for these meetings.
It remains to be seen what developments will take place as a consequence of Pashinyan’s absence from these important regional gatherings.
