Northern Hungarian Town Resumes International Bus Service, but Advertisement Contains Major Flaw – PHOTOS
A new international bus connection has been established between Slovakia and Hungary, providing passengers with access to two new routes. The bus service, which will operate between Northern Hungary and Southern Slovakia, aims to assist guest workers, students, and tourists in reaching their destinations more conveniently. This initiative has been praised by local Hungarian representatives, including Zoltán Cziprus, a councillor of the Hungarian Alliance in Slovakia, who described it as a fulfillment of an old promise.
The first bus on the new route will depart from Rimaszombat (Rimavská Sobota) on March 15th, traveling between Rimaszombat and Cered (Nógrád County, Hungary) four times a day. The bus line is expected to benefit residents of Southern Slovakia by providing transportation to their workplaces in Hungary, with connections to Salgótarján and Budapest available from Cered.
In addition to this route, another international bus line will connect Losonc (Lučenec), Fülek (Fiľakovo), and Salgótarján, marking the revival of a service that was terminated 24 years ago. Future plans include expanding the international bus network to include routes between Rimaszombat-Salgótarján, Rimaszombat-Putnok, and Nagykürtös (Veľký Krtíš).
Traveling on these bus lines will be affordable, with prices set at EUR 3.5 from Losonc to Salgótarján and EUR 3.3 from Rimaszombat to Cered. The operation of the bus service will be managed by the Slovak SAD Lučenec company, with a focus on serving students, tourists, and employees in the region.
The new bus lines have received praise from Nándor Skuczi, the Chairman of the Nógrád County Assembly, who highlighted the importance of cooperation with Hungarian partners. There are also plans to introduce a new bus line between Losonc and Budapest, with potential interest in re-establishing railway connections between the two regions.
Despite the positive developments, a mistake was noted in the display of Hungarian flags on the bus doors, with the colors arranged incorrectly and the absence of the Hungarian coat of arms. This error has raised concerns among passengers and stakeholders.
Overall, the establishment of these new international bus connections between Slovakia and Hungary represents a significant step towards improving transportation options for residents and travelers in the region.
