Novruz Day Celebrations in Tbilisi: A Global Affair
International Day of Novruz Celebrated in Tbilisi with Turkmenistan Embassy Showcase
On 22 March 2025, the International Day of Novruz was celebrated in the historical centre of Tbilisi, specifically in Abanotubani, with the support of the City Hall and the participation of various Embassies, diasporas, and cultural centres. The event saw a vibrant display of culture and traditions from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Iran, and Turkiye.
One of the main highlights of the celebration was the pavilion dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality. The Embassy of Turkmenistan showcased a variety of items including books by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, traditional costumes, jewelry, handmade carpets, paintings, and national dishes.
The Mayor of Tbilisi City, Kakha Kaladze, along with other dignitaries and Ambassadors, congratulated the audience on this special occasion. Ambassador of Turkmenistan, D. Seyitmammedov, highlighted the significance of Novruz in Turkmen culture, emphasizing the values of peacefulness, good neighbourliness, and love for the homeland.
Ambassador Seyitmammedov also mentioned the adoption of the resolution “2025-International Year of Peace and Trust” by the United Nations General Assembly, initiated by Turkmenistan, as a recognition of the country’s efforts towards global peace and sustainable development.
The festivities on the International Day of Novruz were seen as a unifying force bringing together diverse communities to promote cultural exchange and humanitarian values. The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the organizers and wished everyone health, happiness, peace, and prosperity.
The event concluded with a vibrant concert, leaving attendees with a memorable experience of celebrating Novruz in Tbilisi.
