Nowruz Celebrated in Washington DC
The diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan in the United States came together to celebrate the Nowruz holiday in a grand event. Representatives of the U.S. Department of State and Congress, along with entrepreneurs, members of the diplomatic corps in Washington, and the Turkic diaspora of America, joined in the festivities.
The celebration featured a cultural program with dance performances, including the traditional Turkmen folk dance Kushtdepdi, as well as instrumental music played on traditional instruments. Guests were also treated to a variety of dishes from the cuisines of Turkic peoples, adding to the festive atmosphere of the event.
During the celebration, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the United States, Meret Orazov, delivered a heartfelt address, congratulating everyone on the occasion. He highlighted the significance of this year’s celebration, marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent Neutrality. Ambassador Orazov also mentioned the adoption of the resolution on the “Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan” by the UN General Assembly.
The festive gathering was a reminder of the cultural richness and diplomatic ties between the Turkic nations and the United States. The event was a true reflection of the spirit of Nowruz, bringing together people from different backgrounds to celebrate unity and friendship.
