OceanGate disappears from the web by deleting all social media accounts

OceanGate, the deep-sea exploration company, has been erasing its online presence by shutting down its website and deleting its social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. According to the New York Post, the company’s website has gone dark, displaying a black screen with a message stating that all operations have been suspended. It is unclear when the website’s content about submersible trips to the Titanic shipwreck was replaced. The company’s social media pages were also unavailable, with its Facebook page missing and its Instagram page made private. Additionally, OceanGate Expeditions’ Instagram account appears to have been taken down, while LinkedIn and Twitter display messages indicating that the company no longer exists. Last week, OceanGate added a notice to its webpage, stating that it ceased operations earlier in the month. The company, which was co-founded in 2009, suffered a tragedy when its CEO, Stockton Rush, and four others were killed in a submarine accident. OceanGate had positioned itself as a company for daring individuals to explore the depths of the ocean, similar to Jacques Cousteau. However, a former potential passenger revealed that Rush’s main interest was in funding his obsession with documenting the decay of the Titanic. The Post has sought out comments from OceanGate.
