Official Update: Curricula to Align with Cambridge University Methodology

Kyrgyzstan to Overhaul Education System to Focus on STEM, English, and Computer Science
Bishkek – 11:24, 15 March 2024 – Kyrgyzstan is set to make significant changes to its curricula, with a focus on STEM subjects (exact sciences), English, and computer science, according to a high-ranking official from the presidential administration.
The official announced that the country will draw inspiration from successful countries, particularly Singapore, in developing the new curricula. The methodology of Cambridge University will serve as the basis for the changes.
“Our professors will collaborate closely with Singapore to study their successful education system and adapt it to our needs,” the official stated.
He further emphasized that the current textbooks used in Kyrgyz schools do not meet the standards of the Nationwide Testing. “We need to instill logic, new skills, creative thinking, information processing, and knowledge acquisition in our students. This calls for new textbooks, methodologies, and a reorientation of teachers,” he explained.
The transition to the new curricula is expected to take place over the next 2-3 years, with a focus on improving the overall quality of education in the country. Students, teachers, and education experts are anticipated to play key roles in this transformation.
