Olympics 2024: Wrestler Bekzat Almaz uulu falls short in bronze medal bout
Freestyle wrestler Bekzat Almaz uulu from Kyrgyzstan misses out on Olympic bronze
Bishkek, 10 August 2024 – Kyrgyzstani freestyle wrestler Bekzat Almaz uulu fell short in his quest for a bronze medal at the Olympics in Paris. The competition was aired on KTRK Sport TV channel.
Competing in the 57-kilogram weight category, Almaz uulu was defeated by Gulomzhon Abdullaev from Uzbekistan, ultimately settling for fifth place in the tournament.
Despite a strong performance in the consolation tournament where he beat Wanghao Zou from China in the first round and Meirambek Kartbay from Kazakhstan in the 1/8 finals, Almaz uulu was unable to advance past the 1/4 finals after losing to Spencer Richard Lee from the USA. Lee went on to claim a spot in the final match, while Almaz uulu was left to battle for the bronze medal, which he unfortunately did not secure.
Kyrgyzstan will continue to cheer on its athletes as they compete at the highest levels of international sports.
