Oman to Host US-Iran Indirect Talks This Week

Iran and US to Hold Next Round of Talks in Oman on April 19

The next round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States is set to take place in the capital of Oman on April 19, according to Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei. The announcement was reported by IRNA news agency via TASS.

Baghaei stated that Muscat, the capital of Oman, will remain as the venue for the second round of negotiations, scheduled to occur on Saturday, April 19.

Earlier on April 14, Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp had initially mentioned that the next talks regarding the Iranian nuclear program would be held in Rome, upon his arrival at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg. He clarified that the talks would not take place in the Netherlands as previously rumored.

The first round of discussions between Iranian and US officials took place in Oman on April 12, where they deliberated on resolving the situation surrounding Tehran’s nuclear program. The Iranian delegation was led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, while the US team was headed by Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry reported that the initial meeting was conducted in a peaceful and constructive manner, and both parties agreed to continue consultations. The upcoming second round of talks is scheduled for April 19.
