Ongoing Airport Checks for Monkeypox Among Citizens

All citizens are being checked at airports, railway stations, and border checkpoints due to the threat of monkeypox. Sultan Suranbaev, a specialist at the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Department, shared this information on the air of Birinchi Radio.

According to him, all individuals arriving in Kyrgyzstan are being screened using a thermal imager. If someone exhibits symptoms such as fever, measures will be taken, including PCR testing.

The official also highlighted the development of a system for responding to infectious diseases. Previously, the Ministry of Health announced that with technical support from WHO, 3,000 PCR test kits for detecting the monkeypox virus were received in 2022.

Laboratories of the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, as well as the Osh Sanitary Service Center, are actively testing individuals who have returned from countries with a high-risk situation.

Collaborative efforts with the Spiritual Directorate of the Muslims of the Kyrgyz Republic are underway to provide timely information to the population on the transmission routes and prevention of monkeypox.

Considering the epidemiological situation in certain countries, the Ministry of Health advises citizens planning trips to countries where cases of the disease have been reported to take necessary precautions.

Some typical symptoms of monkeypox include skin rash or lesions of the mucous membranes lasting 2-4 weeks, fever, headache, muscle and back pain, weakness, and swollen lymph nodes.

It is essential for individuals to stay informed about the symptoms of monkeypox and take appropriate measures to protect themselves and others from the spread of the virus.
