Open Budget initiative launches new season on Feb 1
The Ministry of Economy and Finance has announced that over 3 trillion soums will be allocated from district and city budgets for the first season of the Open Budget initiative. This initiative, set to begin on February 1, aims to involve the public in the budgeting process.
The process will consist of three main stages:
– From February 1 to February 20, the formation of projects will begin.
– From February 21 to March 11, projects will be selected.
– From March 12 to March 31, voting on projects will take place.
The department has also stated that the maximum cost of projects eligible for funding will be 1 billion 360 million soums.
This initiative is a step towards greater transparency and public participation in the allocation of budget funds. It will allow citizens to have a say in how money is allocated in their districts and cities, ultimately leading to more efficient and community-driven development projects.
