Vocational Training and Domestic Products Fair Opens with Official Ceremony

The Vocational Training and Domestic Products Fair has officially opened for the second time this year, with a grand ceremony held at the Marriage Office in Nicosia Fairgrounds. The event was attended by President Ersin Tatar, President of the Assembly of the Republic Zorlu Töre, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, President of the Republican Turkish Party Tufan Erhürman, as well as ministers, officials from the Ministry of National Education and Culture, and representatives from non-governmental organizations.

Organized by the Vocational Technical Education Department under the Ministry of National Education, the fair will feature the participation of 12 vocational high schools, the Apprenticeship Training Center, the Lifelong Education Center, and 11 universities showcasing their products and shows.

During the opening ceremony, President Ersin Tatar emphasized the importance of vocational technical education and digital transformation in creating a more sustainable structure on the island. He highlighted the significance of lifelong education in improving productivity and shaping professions.

President of the Assembly of the Republic Zorlu Töre focused on the vital role of vocational training and domestic production in the country’s continued development. He emphasized the steps taken to promote production activities locally and the importance of vocational education.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel praised the resilience of Turkish Cypriots in the face of isolation and pressure, highlighting the country’s progress in production. He stressed the need to invest in children and young people, stating that vocational education plays a crucial role in filling gaps and improving the import-export balance.

CTP Chairman Tufan Erhürman underscored the importance of production as a fundamental element of existence. He called for increased support for local intermediate staff and qualified workers, emphasizing the need for policies that strengthen the domestic workforce.

Deputy Prime Minister Fikri Ataoğlu highlighted the significance of workplaces supporting local skilled workers and expressed gratitude to all contributors to the fair. Minister of Economy and Energy Olgun Amcaoğlu emphasized the value of vocational education in empowering the country’s workforce.

Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu reiterated the importance of vocational education for the country’s survival and highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance vocational training. Various speakers emphasized the importance of vocational education for development, added value, and equal opportunities.

The fair, which will run until May 9, has received contributions from various organizations and municipalities, highlighting the collaborative effort towards promoting vocational education and domestic production.
