Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya has announced the successful completion of the “Narkoçelik-42” operations against poison traffickers in 19 provinces. Under the coordination of the Gendarmerie General Command’s Anti-Narcotic Crimes Department, provincial gendarmerie commands were deployed in various cities including Diyarbakır, Istanbul, Ankara, and Van.

A total of 1 ton 971 kilograms of drugs, 4 million 389 thousand cannabis roots and skunks, and 267 thousand 593 drug pills were seized in the operations carried out by the Gendarmerie. In addition, 49 poison traffickers were apprehended, with 22 of them being arrested and 3 put under judicial control.

Minister Yerlikaya highlighted that a total of 62 thousand 132 operations were conducted against poison traffickers across the country between June 4, 2023, and September 30, 2024. As a result, 42 thousand 908 suspects were arrested, with judicial control decisions issued for 18 thousand 718 suspects.

In his statement, Minister Yerlikaya emphasized the government’s determination to eradicate poison dealers and street dealers from the country. He commended the heroic efforts of the Gendarmerie in carrying out these operations and expressed gratitude for their service. The Minister also reassured the nation that their prayers and support are with the forces working to combat drug trafficking in the country.
